two trees in the middle of the forest

ben
This is a story of two trees in the middle of the forest.
The small tree told the big one, “I think you’re old. Your bark is rough and crackly. Why not just let yourself be cut so you can still be of good use?”
The big tree replied, “Do you know the reason why I am still here?”
The small tree remarked, “Why?”
“So that when a strong storm comes, or when the sun shines like hell, I just spread my leaves and branches to cover you as hard as I can. I don’t want your bark to be rough and crackly as mine,” the old tree answered.
“You don’t need to do that!” the small tree flamboyantly chided.
But the big tree insisted, “I made a promise to myself a few years ago to protect that one seed that fell under my wings—to make her the best tree ever here in the forest. Look at that seed now, it turned out to be a beautiful you.”
